What We’re Working on Now – Summer 2023
No summer slowdown over here. The search side of the business is working on various stages of a dozen executive placements, three of them connected to strategic and organizational design engagements. Here is a brief overview of just a few of our current engagements.
The Mind & Life Institute
After a six-month project to fundamentally redesign the 36-year old organization, co-founded by the Dalai Lama, OE has launched a formal search for the new President.
University of Colorado: The Renée Crown Wellness Center
We are in the early stages of a strategic redesign of this remarkable organization, after which four senior faculty-researcher hires will take place.
The Lemelson Foundation
Our long-time client has been expanding dramatically. Having placed five candidates across departments, our latest search for Lemelson is for a Finance and Grants Accountant. Watching Lemelson grow and deepen its mission has been a privilege.
Center for Independent Living, Berkeley
OE is supporting a national search for CIL’s new Executive Director. CIL Berkeley was the first disability civil rights organization on earth. There are now independent living centers from Sandusky, Ohio to Novosibirsk, Siberia. Among the accomplishments of the independent living movement is the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act. The context changes, but the mission of working at the grassroots of justice for people with disabilities continues. It is a crucial organization and OE is proud to be associated with these pioneers.
University of Virginia: The Contemplative Sciences Center
OE is engaged to help the CSC define its strategy to support wellness throughout the university community, and later this summer, will launch a national search for its new Executive Director. The CSC will open its new, $50 million Contemplative Commons on the Charlottesville campus next spring. Check back for details soon.
Oakland Goes Outdoors
This organization is seeking its first Executive Director to raise funds, build community, and support the impactful programming they have built with the Oakland Unified School District.
Namchak Foundation
Another long-time client. The Foundation is searching for a Senior Operations Manager. This is a modest title for an extremely complex position that will oversee a vast ranch in Montana, including the restoration of diverse forest and grasslands, the opening of a retreat center, and complicated community relations with local and indigenous communities. The eventual reintroduction of the American bison is also on the horizon. Being a part of this 300-year mission promises to be a meaningful and demanding career.
