Eventually he realized that, when he had to fire someone, it was almost always because of poor behavior, compromised ethics, or toxic effects on culture. So he flipped the equation. The day he began hiring for character first, his own career began to flourish.
This is advice we pass on to every client we work with. Knowledge can be acquired. Skills can be learned. Character can’t.
So hire for character.
