The Client.
The Yerba Buena Community Benefit District (YBCBD) is a nonprofit organization that works to advance the quality of life for residents, employees, and visitors in the Yerba Buena neighborhood of San Francisco. YBCBD is funded to make Yerba Buena a welcoming and vibrant neighborhood through fostering safety, enhancing cleanliness, and reinforcing the vitality of the economic base. YBCBD hired OE Consulting to help them find a new ED to replace their long time retiring ED.
Contexts and Challenges.
The challenge was to replace a revered ED who had decided to retire after 13 years of leading the organization. The new ED needed to be able to navigate the complex San Francisco government and political landscape while representing a diverse mixture of small and large businesses, residents, cultural institutions, and tourism.
Consultant Strategies.
The search focused on identifying candidates with particular strengths in the areas of Executive Leadership, Strategy, Operations, Administration, Community Engagement, and Advocacy. OE researched, identified, and connected with 82 potential prospects about the opportunity, receiving 37 applications. 6 finalists were presented after 8 weeks of outreach and interviews.
Outcomes.
YBCBD received a signed offer of employment from the new ED on October 17, 2022, four months after OE publicized the opportunity.
